Specialist Occupational Therapist - Community Stroke Rehabilitation

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Stroke Services for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team for a fixed term, to bolster the current delivery of occupational therapy to stroke survivors in North East Essex.
The Community Stroke service provides Early Supported Discharge as well as support for people who have a new therapeutic need some time after their stroke. This is in line with the Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) model providing a needs-based service.
The role will join our multidisciplinary team which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists, as well as an experienced team of Associate and Assistant practitioners.
It is essential that you are a car driver with access to a vehicle for work as you will be expected to travel across the North East Essex area.
Main duties of the job
The key objectives for this post are to provide high quality, safe, evidence based and goal-focused rehabilitation, supporting stroke survivors to become experts in their own care and remain in their own homes; and to provide holistic assessment specialist occupational therapy intervention.
Clear clinical reasoning; good assessment and intervention skills; and experience in neuro/stroke care are essential. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical skills and be actively involved in service development.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* oGood theoretical and practical knowledge of a broad range of assessments including specialist relevant to the specialist care group and the relative benefits of each.
* oGood knowledge of a range of specialist therapeutic interventions relevant to the care group including the relative benefits of each and the comparative outcomes.
Qualifications
* oRegistered Occupational Therapist with HCPC
* oProfessional knowledge and Skills acquired through a combination of formal training, short courses and experience to degree level or equivalent.
* oRelevant post qualification training through short courses and/or further study and experience for example splinting and injections, working towards post graduate level of study.
* oEvidence of on-going CPD
* oRegistered member of Chartered Society of Occupational Therapy
* oRecognised registered qualification and further courses and experience relevant to role
Experience
* oProven experience within the relevant care group
* oCompetencies relevant to specialism
* oExperience of managing the work of others
Skills
* oTo use Word, Powerpoint, email, excel and access (or similar spreadsheet or database packages)
* oAbility to manage a team
* oCar owner/driver/access to a motor vehicle (role will involve travel to other sites that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means)
