This is a fantastic opportunity to join our client’s Northern based Debt team, within this newly created role.
The Senior Investment Manager will be required to:
* Have ownership and understanding of their given fund and can articulate a delivery plan to meet the needs of the market and deliver the targets of the fund.
* Require extensive awareness and understanding of the region as well as willingness to operate across the region to access key business networks and originate investment opportunities in the SME market.
* Support the business across the whole region strategically.
* Manage the distribution of enquiries across the fund IMs while also managing their own delivery pipeline and attend face-to-face meetings with applicants to determine their needs and identify the right product to meet their goals.
* Identify, obtain, and support the collection and processing of all necessary information to enable a full appraisal of each proposition in line with the investment operating guidelines of the fund.
* Support the structuring and appraisal of investment opportunities in the wider fund team, leveraging their experience.
* Through effective deal management and use of internal network, manage the end-to-end process for debt transactions.
* Management of the full debt lifecycle required including origination, structuring, negotiating, delivery and relevant support to the portfolio team during the repayment phase.
* Analyse statutory accounts, management accounts and financial projections for risk, completing a financial analysis sheet and undertaking appropriate internal due diligence.
* Own the preparation of appraisals for investment committee and be confident at producing and presenting any proposal in a concise manner.
* Raise cases for discussion with leadership and/or the key stakeholders on the deal team.
* Produce fund level reports and contribute to Investor meetings.
* Have management responsibilities for an Investment Associate who will support the fund delivery. The SIM must be comfortable developing the Associate and delegating fund duties accordingly.
Responsibilities of the Senior Investment Manager – Debt Fund – role:
* Management of the regular information flow from clients and subsequent analysis, interpretation, and critique of financial and commercial aspects including the identification of deteriorating risk trends and recommendation of appropriate provisions.
* Ensuring the timely receipt of management accounts; holding regular client meetings; and ensuring ongoing compliance with the loan agreements for each portfolio company including performance against forecasts, conditions subsequent and agreed covenants.
* Critique and challenge of business plans, due diligence and ad hoc financial information that may be required as part of existing client dialogue.
* Post-investment monitoring of the loan investments, including exit management.
* Making regular reports and reviews to the Portfolio Director or Fund Principal and contributing to investor reporting requirements as appropriate.
* Ensuring that all regulatory and compliance matters are acted upon.
* Keeping the portfolio risk management and CRM system regularly updated.
* Supporting internal and external audits together with the annual financial audit process.
* Assisting with the preparation of quarterly reporting (written and financial analysis) to investors as to the financial performance of clients, and in turn our funds under management.
* Contributing to monthly presentations internally within the organisation and externally with investors as to the client portfolio, discussing key matters arising, trading performance and presenting key information.
* Input into fund management accounting and treasury matters associated with loan/investment activity.
* Other ad hoc assignments and workstreams as required in a growing business.
The ideal candidate must have:
* Experience working in SME/Corporate finance environment and strong understanding of business funding.
* Debt transaction and loan assessment experience ideally within a banking or similar corporate finance environment is preferred.
* Necessary credit skills to analyse businesses and loan requests to identify key issues and develop appropriate solutions.
* Strong relationship skills including the ability to convey and explain information coherently in both oral and written formats.
* Ability to adapt to a variety of tasks.
* Flexibility to travel as required to other offices and/or events in the NW region.
* Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Ambitious and hard-working self-starter.
* Outgoing and sociable.
