Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee / Apprentice Project Manager to work within our Project Management Consultancy Team. Our project management consultancy service extends to all sectors of the construction industry in the Anglian/Central London regions, so you could be working on projects as diverse as a new hospital development, a new 400 seat theatre building, a sports/swimming centre, a regional airport, a University of Cambridge Research facility, alongside flood protection civil engineering works.
Predominantly you will be working within the Cambridge office environment, however you will have the opportunity to see working construction sites. You will work under the close supervision of senior colleagues and the nature of the work can be fast paced to meet the client and project deadlines. The role requires sound logic, analytical and excellent communication skills.
The Project Management Apprenticeship will start in September 2024. You will work towards a Quantity Surveying degree over 4-5 years, with an additional period to allow you to complete your studies and successfully apply for membership of a chartered professional institution.
AECOM Typical PM Duties:
* Co-ordination and the preparation of initial viability studies.
* Appointing all project consultants including; advising the Client on the terms of consultant appointments and fee structures, checking that consultants’ responsibilities are clearly stated, making recommendations concerning the novation of consultants to the contractor, advising on the need for warranties and professional indemnity insurances.
* Preparing the Project Brief.
* Preparing a Project Execution Plan.
* Establishing a project governance structure including communications, reporting, correspondence and drawings distribution, authorization procedures, meetings structure.
* Establishing the overall budget for the project. Preparing project Cashflows.
Qualifications:
We are seeking A-Level School Leavers or equivalent with the following predicted or secured qualifications:
* Minimum 112 UCAS tariff points; this is the equivalent to A-Level B-B-C or BTEC National Diploma DMM (1x Distinction and 2x Merits).
* Minimum GCSE Mathematics & English at Grade 5 (New Structure) or Grade C (Old Structure) or above.
Skills:
* An interest in and desire to pursue a career in Project Management and the Built Environment.
* An aptitude towards good logic, problem solving and strong organizational skills.
* Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
* Ability to work virtually / remote working.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Practical, adaptable and enthusiastic.
* English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills.
* Professional manner.
* Full UK driving licence.
