About the role: Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to recruit Police Staff Investigators for 3 positions in Moonstone, the dedicated domestic abuse investigation and safeguarding team, based in Cornwall. Successful applicants must be hard working, motivated people able to work on their own initiative in a high pressure and dynamic role, investigating offences classified as domestic abuse and working with partner agencies to safeguard victims and those impacted by domestic abuse. Effective communication skills to engage and support victims and witnesses are vital. The role involves detailed file completion and working to strict deadlines as part of a dedicated team of specialist investigators and safeguarding officers covering the county. Investigators will be expected to complete training to be able to accurately and consistently assess and record risk, plan and conduct suspect interviews, liaise with specialist evidence review teams and the Crown Prosecution Service. Police staff investigators work as part of a mixed team of police officers and investigators managed by a sergeant. Investigators are expected to work a shift pattern of either day or late shifts covering the period 7am to midnight daily. The shift pattern operates 365 days a year and will include an expectation to work public holidays such as Christmas and New year if rostered to do so. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a busy team supporting some of the most vulnerable victims of crime and undertaking some of the most difficult and rewarding investigations at this level. FITNESS TEST: As part of the recruitment process, candidates are required to undertake and pass the Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT). The JRFT is a critical component of the recruitment and appointment of Police Staff Investigators. The core rational for the test is to ensure that prospective employees have a minimum level of fitness to be able to undertake Personal Safety Training. The fitness test is benchmarked against the aerobic demands of Personal Safety Training (PST) and comprises of an aerobic shuttle run test (15m Multistage Fitness Test – 15m MSFT at level 5:4).
