SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Salary: £75-110 per day

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in South Shields. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in Primary, you will work closely with children across Key Stages 1 and 2 who need additional emotional and behavioural support to help them succeed in the classroom. You will play a key role in ensuring a positive learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities of the Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
* Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson delivery.
* Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop coping strategies.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCo to adapt learning materials.
* Monitor and report on pupil progress and well-being.
* Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning.
* Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant in Primary:
* Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs.
* Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to challenging behaviour.
* Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
* A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
* Relevant qualifications (desirable but not essential).
