British Sugar is a home-grown success story and one of the most efficient and competitive beet processers in the world. Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this in to over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets. Full time, Permanent Location: Newark Report to: Head of Supply Chain Finance and Financial Performance Job Purpose Lead the site's financial and management accounting, reporting and control activities ensuring they are undertaken efficiently, effectively and in line with policy and best practice. Be a key and active member of the Site Leadership Team providing support, challenge and financial insight to enhance decision making and optimise operational performance to minimise the business's cost base. Core Accountabilities Business Partnering - Finding and delivering value; understanding and supporting partner needs Develop and maintain strong Business Partnering support to the Site General Manager and APU (Autonomous Production Unit) leads. Drive a culture of performance and financial awareness, whilst supporting our strategic priority of lower operating and overhead cost per tonne. Provision of Management Information and Analysis – Delivering complete and accurate financials Lead the site forecasting and budgeting processes, providing insight & challenge and ensuring a clear understanding of performance drivers, risks & opportunities Deliver period end reporting for all areas of the site with full commentary of variances. APU Weekly reporting, reviews & analysis – working with Site General Manager, APU leads & teams. Provide support for all capital investments, from idea conception through to post implementation review. Drive delivery & support of Business Improvement Plans and Continuous Improvement initiatives. Governance and Controls Ensure the site is aware of and complies with all BS/ABF controls and procedures to ensure financial integrity across the business. Support internal & External Audits. Able to make decisions which may influence the way in which site processes run and interact and stop those which are non-compliant. Ensure balance sheets are reconciled and signed off each period with issues resolved in a timely manner. Maintain robust physical and accounting controls, ensure accurate and complete stock takes are carried out across the whole of the site, attended by finance where appropriate. Other Manage and develop the site Finance Assistant and support the development of wider finance team. Be a safety leader, and ensure the team live by the safter values of the site. Ad hoc duties as required. Skills, Knowledge & Competencies CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified with post qualification experience in a commercial or manufacturing environment Highly organised and disciplined with an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines Experience of providing financial leadership to non-financial colleagues Collaborative approach, able to build strong relationships, influence key stakeholders & challenge constructively To Apply If interested, please visit the
