Adult and Community Education Part Time Tutor of Functional Skills English and Maths (3 days per week) We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic part time Tutor to join our Wakefield Adult Education Service. Working hours, days and times can be negotiable, learning is personalised, and class sizes are small. The successful candidate would be required to teach 1 evening class per week. Previous experience of teaching functional skills is desirable but not essential. Applications would be welcomed from applicants from other teaching backgrounds such as primary education, that have the skills to deliver to level 2 standard. What will be expected from me? The purpose of this role is to deliver Entry level to level 2 English and maths to adults, within a range of accredited and non-accredited learning pathways. What I might be doing? You will ensure learners receive high quality teaching and learning and are aware of other learning opportunities to ensure they access and progress to appropriate courses. Teach innovative activities/skills in sessions that motivate and engage all learners and are suitably challenging. You will work within a supportive team to update schemes of work, lesson plans and resources with clear objectives to meet the course program and accreditation/RARPAP requirements. Essential requirements: Level 4/5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE or DTLLS) or equivalent teaching qualification or be prepared to achieve full teacher status within two years).
