This maternity cover role is based in Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions and Outreach (MRAO) which makes up part of the External Relations Directorate. The Student Recruitment team within MRAO are tasked with developing strategies that help shape the University’s future student populations by attracting and retaining the best students, regardless of their backgrounds. The team engages with key stakeholders such as students, parents and advisers as well as schools and colleges. An enthusiastic and well-organised Student Recruitment Manager (Events) – Maternity Cover is required to work within our recruitment strategy to organise, plan and deliver large-scale and key undergraduate recruitment events on-campus as well as representing the University at school/college visits and events. This is one of two Student Recruitment Manager (Events) roles who work within the Student Recruitment team; this post has specific responsibility for the management and delivery of Open Days and offers an exciting opportunity for those with relevant experience to work on a range of key University recruitment events. Key responsibilities To take responsibility for the management, organisation and delivery of the University’s undergraduate Open Days and other recruitment events, and take a significant role in events lead by the other Student Recruitment Manager (Events). This includes developing and maintaining agreed project plans and writing detailed evaluation reports. To manage the work of the events’ administrative support team. To develop excellent working relationships with all key internal stakeholders of Open Day and other events, particularly with York’s academic departments, Heads of Faculty Marketing and Recruitment and other Professional Services. To work with the other Student Recruitment Manager (Events) and the Undergraduate Admissions team to help deliver post-offer visit days to ensure a successful set of events. To analyse and interpret market intelligence trends and competitor activity around study choices at York and elsewhere to inform the development of recruitment activity in the UK. This includes measuring their effectiveness and assessing return on investment. To provide specialist information and advice about the University of York specifically and higher education generally, to prospective students at recruitment events on and off campus. To work closely with the Deputy Head of Student Recruitment to assess a range of external recruitment events and related initiatives, utilising their event knowledge and expertise to maximise opportunities to meet potential students, key influencers and other stakeholders. To work closely with the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Manager and take a leading role within Student Recruitment to identify key points in the student journey, specifically Open Days and other pre-application events. This will include supporting the operational expansion of the University’s CRM system by providing expert advice to maximise the number of leads in the system. Drawing on expert market knowledge, to work in collaboration with the University’s Marketing team to develop the most effective marketing materials and campaigns for a range of recruitment events and conversion activities as well as supporting brand awareness, reputation and positioning objectives. To provide appropriate specialist event advice, guidance and support to staff in academic departments and other parts of the University who are involved in student recruitment and recruitment events. To take a leading role in the recruitment and training of the University’s Student Ambassadors, who are integral to York’s Open Day experience. To work in close collaboration with and under the direction of the Deputy Head of Student Recruitment to develop strategies and tactics for data driven and targeted student recruitment. To maintain professional interest and knowledge in the development of student recruitment and events management. To generate and maintain collaborative links with a wide range of individuals and/or professional bodies, both internally and externally.
