Nature & Scope of Role
1. Oversee Quality Engineers development and assessment of new Halfords own brand products.
2. Provide input and guidance through applying knowledge to Quality Engineers on products technical and compliance (regulation/legislation) requirements to ensure products are safe, legal and fit for purpose.
3. Support Halfords Global Sourcing team (Asia) in ensuring Suppliers/Factories comply to the Halfords technical and social Auditing program.
4. Oversee Quality Engineers monitoring of Customer product returns, ownership of product corrective actions plans, ensuring improvement trends here are progressed into existing and new product developments, using all returns data (KPIs), customer web reviews and complaints data.
5. Review standards and Regulations, providing training and support to Teams to enhance quality awareness and ensure compliance.
6. Manage and develop Motoring Quality Engineers, managing objectives, appraisal reviews and supporting individuals’ personal development plans.
7. Represent Halfords as appropriate with external technical bodies and associations.
8. Support and facilitate the Quality Management System, in key areas of product development, product and factory compliance (legal/regulatory), policy, systems, processes and data.
9. Support and input into the Quality team strategy and road map.

Key Skills & Experience
19. Experience of working in the hard goods retailer sector is an advantage, and some specialist product in-depth knowledge or subject matter expertise.
20. Understand Customer needs to develop products that over deliver.
21. Knowledge and experience of product manufacturing and the quality principles involved (ISO 9000).
22. Detailed knowledge and experience of Quality Management systems.
23. Can demonstrate a good level of People Management experience and skills.
24. To have comprehensive communication and presentation skills.
25. Hold commercial acumen awareness.
26. Understand Customer needs to develop products that meet their needs.
