Our client, a long-standing UK-wide provider of commercial fleet rental vehicles, have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of HR to join their talented in-house team based in their Pudsey, West Yorkshire office.
About the Role
The role will require both strategic and tactical interventions to support the business in its growth journey and to help shape the future of the business. As a true generalist, the role is to deliver value and commercial outcomes across all areas of the operation, embedding excellence, pride and ownership through the business.
Responsibilities
* Working with the management teams across all departments, you will support with structural change, drive engagement and coach people managers to lead effectively.
* Review and develop performance management mechanisms that drive high-performance cultures and reward and recognise achievement.
* Upskill and coach managers in effective disciplinary and grievance conversations, making a more proactive approach as standard.
* Understand vision and values and work on a strategy that truly embeds the culture and feeling of ownership through every area of the business.
* Ensure all policies and procedures are legally compliant, up to date and drive effective employee relations.
* Provide specialist proactive HR advice/coaching to line managers and employees in a confident, timely and confidential manner, evidencing appropriate decision-making skills and attending/chairing meetings as required.
* Resolve straightforward and complex people issues to deliver commercially pragmatic outcomes in line with best practice.
* Lead on implementing organisational change developments including restructures, pay and grading where appropriate.
* Working closely with senior leadership and cascading through the management team the business is looking to create and embed a leadership approach that is unique to them and drives excellence.
* Identify future leaders to work on individual development plans.
* Ensure that personal development plans and living processes across the organisation and are part of coaching and objective-setting conversations.
* Design, develop, deliver and evaluate appropriate in-house training for employees and line managers on a range of policy, procedure and soft skills training.
* Proactively identify training needs and career development plans working with line managers to ensure effective talent pipelines and succession plans are in place.
Qualifications
Level 7 CIPD qualified or equivalent experience (desirable)
Required Skills
* Expert knowledge of employment practice, employment legislation and resourcing gained through demonstrable experience.
* Expert knowledge of ER processes and procedures including Employment Tribunals and the Equality Act.
* Proven ability to plan and prioritise own workload and workload of others to achieve HR Objectives, keeping professional when under pressure and working without supervision.
* Demonstrable ability to challenge and influence constructively at all levels.
* Demonstrate creative thinking and an innovative approach to projects/tasks.
* Pace, energy and enthusiasm with demonstrable ability to think and deliver at speed.
* Emotionally intelligent.
* Able to deal with ambiguity and work with limited evidence.
* An aspiring individual who looks to identify and grasp opportunities for their personal development.
* Excellent IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and experience of a range of HR systems.
Preferred Skills
* Experience operating autonomously at a Head of or Management level within a fast moving organisation.
* Proven expertise in UK Employment Legislation and complex ER matters.
* Able to develop productive relationships/ability to communicate at all levels (internally and externally).
* Demonstrable record of managing change.
Pay range and compensation package
Salary Yearly: £50000-£70000 DOE
