We're seeking an experienced and passionate Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team at HMP Holme House.
Working Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with Rethink Mental Illness colleagues, healthcare staff from Tees, Esk, and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, and prison discipline staff from HMPPS.
As part of the Teesside cluster of prisons, we provide essential mental health services to inmates, helping to make a positive impact on their lives.
Main Duties of the Job
You will work as part of an integrated primary care mental health team within the prison to provide high-volume, low-intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions for clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. This includes providing guided self-help in both 1:1 and group formats, in line with the current Step 2 IAPT guidelines.

About Us
The team comprises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care for those with mental health needs within the prison. You will work as part of an integrated care mental health team delivering Step 1 interventions, supporting the mental health of the prison population. The team supports people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery, building a professional relationship of trust in a non-judgmental manner with every client.
Job Responsibilities
* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
* Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols.
* Assess and support people with mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery.
* Undertake person-centred interviews identifying areas for change and recovery.
* Provide assessment and low-intensity interventions.
* Implement and support a range of evidence-based interventions.
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings.
* Work closely with other team members.
* Ensure client confidentiality is protected.
* Record and evaluate outcome measures.
* Work in partnership with other disciplines.
* Communicate effectively with patients and stakeholders.

* Be flexible and provide contingency cover to other prisons if required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Successfully completed academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme.
* Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy, or psychological therapy.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression.
* Relevant experience in other therapy modalities.
Experience
* Post-qualification experience in delivering evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions.
* Knowledge of assessment procedures and evidence-based psychological interventions.
* Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
* Experience working in a prison environment or with offenders.
