The Workshop Assistant role is essential in supporting trainers and facilitators to deliver craft programs within ScottishPower Technical Training.
This position includes formal training and development to ensure competent supervision, aiding in the training of craft skills across all ScottishPower business units and service partners.
Additionally, the role involves assisting an experienced trainer in supervising trainees within the workshop environment, ensuring all instructions are followed safely and providing guidance for any questions.
What you’ll be doing
1. Adhere to the technical standards established by the Business Compliance and Standards departments, ensuring the use of the latest documentation, tooling, equipment, and techniques for specific technical procedures and products.
2. Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and Group / Business Health & Safety policies, and in particular understanding the health and safety standards for each of the craft disciplines including tooling preparation and workshop audits.
3. Achieve training objectives through various delivery and assessment methods.
4. Support the management and procurement of tools and equipment required in the Training Centre, in line with the agreed budget. This includes support with stock orders and stores.
5. Understand the process for the preparation of all training materials, both written, and via electronic media and practical demonstration equipment and support where appropriate.
What you’ll bring
1. Practical experience working with hand skills.
2. Preferable if you have understanding of Cable Jointing, Substation Fitting or Overhead lines.
3. Understanding of basic principles of Health, Safety & Environmental compliance and ability to demonstrate this in a workplace environment.
4. Ability to articulate complex technical information to different levels of audience.
Minimum Criteria
1. Full valid driving licence.
2. Practical hand skills experience.
3. Experience of working in a healthy & safety focussed environment.
