Senior Software Engineer – Android – iPlayer Mobile – FTC [UK]
We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer with a passion for mobile technology and extensive expertise in Android development to join our team supporting a leading media client. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the entire development lifecycle, including creating new features, resolving bugs, and conducting thorough code reviews.
You will have the opportunity to work on the Short Form Video team of the client’s primary video streaming application used by over 16 million people whilst working in a highly cross functional and autonomous environment. You will be a confident, proactive and inquisitive developer who cares equally about user value, business value and code quality.
Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will:
* have extensive experience of Kotlin and JetPack Compose
* have at least 5 years of Android application development
* have experience of writing high quality code and following pair programming, clean code, TDD and automated testing best practices
* have professional experience of working in projects using Agile Scrum development processes
* enjoy experimentation and innovation
* have experience using Play Store and CI/CD deployment knowledge
* be confident, inquisitive and proactive with questions and knowledge sharing
* have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation
Experience
* A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
* Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
* Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
* Experience with providing coaching and mentoring.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
