Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a rewarding role managing a busy HR function? We are seeking a proactive HR Manager to develop our HR system, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practices in recruitment, performance management, and staff well-being.
About the Role
As HR Manager in this standalone role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the leadership team and staff by managing all aspects of HR & HR administration, including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance. While prior experience in an educational setting is beneficial, it is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage HR policies, procedures, and systems to support the school’s strategic objectives, including the implementation of our new EveryHR system.
* Oversee the full recruitment and selection process for all roles and onboarding of support staff, ensuring compliance with Safer Recruitment in school regulations and employment law, including DBS checks and references.
* Maintain and monitor the Single Central Record (SCR) and pre-employment checks, ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements.
* Advise on and support the performance management process, including appraisals and professional development.
* Provide expert HR advice to senior leaders on employee relations, employment law, contracts, and HR best practice.
* Lead on pay and reward initiatives, including benchmarking and salary reviews.
* Implement staff training and development programs, ensuring all staff have access to relevant learning opportunities.
* Promote employee well-being initiatives to foster a positive and supportive working environment.
* Ensure all HR processes comply with GDPR and employment legislation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* CIPD Level 5 or higher (or equivalent HR qualification/experience).
* A strong background in HR management, ideally within a standalone role.
* Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
* Experience managing recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
* The ability to build positive relationships with staff at all levels.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
* The ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism.
* Strong administration skills with excellent attention to detail.
