UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE + make a difference for every patient A sterile services technician is a healthcare professional who is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating and sterilising medical equipment. You will be a vital member of the team, working to support our Central Sterile Services Department Manager, Jim, in the provision of a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service to all departments within the hospital. This will include ensuring that every medical device is prepared fit for the purpose prior to patient use and undertaking tasks involved with the decontamination process i.e. cleaning, checking, packing, assembling, sterilising and distribution of medical devices. This role will be working 37.5 hours a week over. The role requires applicants to preferably have Hepatitis B and TB vaccinations, however, practice plus group will put successful applicants through a course if there is no evidence of immunisation.
Main duties of the job
Participating in all duties in accordance with departmental work schedules i.e. cleaning, checking, assembling, packing, sterilisation and distribution. Working in accordance with documented departmental policies and procedures, reporting all defects identified in theatre trays and instruments to the Sterile Service Manager. You will monitor all procedures and report malfunctions of sterilisers/ washer-disinfectors to the appropriate senior member of staff and record the details on the appropriate form. Ensuring that all relevant daily validation testing is undertaken and recorded on the appropriate documentation in compliance with local policies and procedures. You will be responsible for identifying and checking all returned instruments and equipment as specified on the tray specification sheet.
