Purpose of Role
A great opportunity for a Qualified Electrician to join our Defence contract as AGL (Above Ground Level) Electrician working on a busy live Airfield base where you will learn and obtain new qualification and certificates relating to Airfield systems. This is a shift pattern opportunity.
Job Description
An AGL (Above Ground Level) Electrician specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment associated with aviation and air traffic control facilities. Working in an environment that demands precision and adherence to strict safety standards, the AGL Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of lighting systems on airport runways, taxiways, and other crucial areas.
Responsibilities
•Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain AGL systems, including runway edge lights, taxiway lights, approach lights, and associated control systems.
•Complete general power and lighting installations, showcasing a commitment to precision and excellence in every task.
•Employ effective fault-finding techniques to promptly address reactive electrical issues.
•Ensure compliance with internal & Client processes and in line with legislation and MOD JSPs.
•Respond promptly to electrical system failures or malfunctions, especially during adverse weather conditions, displaying a proactive approach to minimize disruption to air traffic.
•Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities reflecting a dedication to transparency and accountability.
•Manage own workload to close out tasks in accordance with Schedule and KPIs.
•Document any changes made to the AGL systems and ensure that records comply with regulatory requirements, keeping records clear and concise.
•Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or incidents related to electrical work in the aviation environment.
•Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times.
•A willingness to participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring a proactive approach to professional development.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
•A recognized apprenticeship with relevant experience as a fully qualified. electrician and/or an appropriate City and Guilds/NVQ in an Electrical discipline.
•City and Guilds IEE 18th Edition Regulations.
•City and Guilds 2391, 2394 or 2395 Testing and Inspection.
•Experience of electrical testing.
•Installation experience.
