About the job Salary: £37,938 - £40,476 a year pro rata Hours per week: 30 Contract type: Fixed term until 30/09/2025 We are seeking a passionate individual to join our Health Equity and Community Team for a fixed-term role focused on the Cancer Connectors project. This project is funded until September 2025. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive key health improvement initiatives across various cancer services and communities. Your role will be draw together various forms of intelligence. This will include case studies, numbers of people engaged, and demonstrate the delivery of impactful activities undertaken in the last 2.5 years running of the Cancer Community Connector project. Your responsibilities will include working closely with partners and stakeholders, using your initiative to manage and translate information with the intention of creating meaningful change in cancer services for the communities that the connectors represent. In this role, you will manage the Cancer Connectors project with minimal supervision while being part of a collaborative and dynamic team. Your excellent organizational skills will be essential in planning and drafting and writing reports and interim reports, ensuring that we meet our timescales and deliverables. You will be a key person to regularly communicate, using different methods including power point presentations, briefings and large reports with individuals, managers and senior partners from diverse backgrounds, to ensure the evidence and effectiveness of the project is communicated in a clear and compelling manner. You will also be expected to manage a small team and contribute to the wider health equity, talk, listen change agenda, demonstrating how the project has helped to meet the needs of the communities we serve. A good understanding of cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as the role of community/cancer connectors in providing support and information to Luton communities, is essential. You will particularly focus on highlighting the success of the project from Asian, Black African/Caribbean, and Eastern European groups. Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About you We're looking for someone with a strong background and experience in project coordination and managing people. And the ability to influence key partners and stakeholders to drive change. You have organisational, analytical and report writing skills. You're not only comfortable working autonomously, but you thrive on the responsibility of leading and delivering projects that make a difference. You are able to analyse data and extract key information and common themes, and produce an evidence report. Your experience in health improvement and knowledge of public health will be key, as you help guide services that reduce health inequalities and enhance community wellbeing. Comfortable organising events such as webinars and conferences. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be adept at using qualitative and quantitative data to inform your decisions. Whether it's negotiating with key partners, planning activities, or presenting to different audiences, you're able to communicate effectively and adapt to various settings. You'll also have experience in maintaining databases and managing workloads to meet deadlines. In addition to your professional experience, you have a solid understanding of health and social care, as well as the theory and practice of behaviour change. A degree in public health, business administration, or a related field will be advantageous, and if you hold a project management qualification, that's a big plus.
