STEEL FABRICATOR
The Light Lab are a leading manufacturer of bespoke architectural lighting products and installations. Having spent the past two decades, bringing together their combined experience in the application of light, new lighting technology and project management, they have delivered many high-end architectural lighting installations across landmark buildings. They have a strong national and increasingly international presence.
The growing team are currently looking for a hard-working, organised & self-motivated steel fabricator, reporting directly to the Head of Production and assisting the current team of fabricators.
This is a full-time position primarily based at our fabrication workshop in Shrewsbury, with standard working hours from 8.00am to 4.30pm (1 hour for lunch). The workshop predominantly fabricates bespoke, lit, Handrail in Stainless Steel for installation both Nationally and Internationally.
The role therefore also requires flexibility to travel both nationally and internationally, often at short notice, and sometimes involving early morning drives to sites such as London or Bristol, always with the possibility of overnight stays or same-day returns depending on project needs.

Assisting with mock-up design and builds
Workshop organisation – tasks such as tidying, stock inventory, packaging
Project specific tasks – such as assembly, soldering electronics etc.
Deliveries & collections
Project preparation and manufacturing
Sample prototyping
Stock cataloguing and inventory
1-2 years’ experience in a similar role as a fabricator in a busy workshop would be helpful as would experience on project/site work.
As part of interview process, the candidate will be required to come into our Shrewsbury workshop, to spend an hour with our current team of fabricators, to so some actual welding, and show their various skillsets.
Start date is flexible depending on candidate availability, but ideally, we would like the role to be filled before the end of January 2025.
Job Type: Full-time employee position – 3 months probationary period.
The position will be contractual and there will be an opportunity to partake of the Companies Group Pension Scheme.
Salary: commensurate to skillset and experience
