This position is integral to the SVP office and leadership team, offering a unique opportunity to work closely with the SVP, attend executive-level meetings, and practice succinct communication skills through writing. About the role : The primary purpose of the Business Advisor to the SVP Wells is to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of SVP wells. This is achieved through a combination of strategic support, ethical oversight, and meticulous communication. The role is designed to foster a collaborative environment, ensuring that all activities within the SVP Wells office align with organisational goals and ethical standards. Improving Efficiency The Business Advisor is tasked with identifying and implementing strategies to enhance the productivity and performance of SVP wells. This includes: Provide technical and commercial advisory input to the SVP ahead of all internal and external engagement. This can be from existing material, market research or analysis. Maintain close relationships with P&O and G&LCE executives support teams to ensure timely workflow amongst both teams. Connect with people and act as a sounding board for the team to provide initial feedback on submissions and information to aid management decisions. Analyse conflicting input from a broad range of internal and external partners to provide a well-balanced view on activity and information, based on evidence and insights. Direct and Indirect Support The role involves providing both direct and indirect support to the SVP Wells team. Direct support includes: Assisting the SVP in daily operations and decision-making processes. Preparing reports and presentations for executive meetings. Handling internal and external communications on behalf of the SVP. Indirect support encompasses: Facilitating collaboration between enablers and teams. Identifying and resolving potential conflicts or issues. Ensuring that all activities align with organisational policies and procedures. Central Role in the SVP Office As a central figure within the SVP Wells office, the Business Advisor is instrumental in driving the overall strategy and direction of the team. This involves: Acting as a liaison between the SVP and other executive members Providing insights and recommendations based on thorough analysis Ensuring that the SVP Wells office operates in a cohesive and efficient manner Leadership Team Collaboration The Business Advisor works closely with the leadership team to align operational activities with strategic objectives. This requires: Participating in executive-level meetings and discussions Providing input on key decisions and initiatives Supporting the development and implementation of strategic plans Succinct Communication An essential aspect of the role is the ability to communicate effectively and succinctly. The Business Advisor must: Draft clear and concise reports, emails, and other documents Present complex information in an accessible and understandable manner Ensure that all communications are aligned with the SVP's vision and objectives Ethics and Compliance The Business Advisor to the SVP Wells also serves as the Central Wells Ethics & Compliance Liaison. In this capacity, the Advisor is responsible for: Conducting regular reviews and audits to identify potential compliance issues Providing guidance and training on ethical practices and compliance requirements Acting as a point of contact for any ethics or compliance-related concerns About you : Essential education - Graduate degree or equivalent. Essential experience and job requirements : Follow bp’s Code of Conduct and model bp’s who we are beliefs. Technical Wells engineering depth and sound Well operational knowledge with an ability to review and summarise reports and provide technical recommendations to the SVP on operational issues, risk management and commercial activities within the function. Familiarisation with key procedures, and practices, i.e OMS, risk management, performance management, investment governance etc. Technical writing skills and ability to draft executive level emails on behalf of the SVP. Maintain a high level of integrity, tact, and discretion in working across the team and in working with confidential matters. Other requirements (e.g. travel, location) : Global travel - 25%. Assignment duration typically 18-24 months. Desirable criteria & qualifications : Have good time management, with systematic and strong organisational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities, sometimes in stressful situations. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Be considerate and respectful of others whilst maintaining personal resilience. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Demonstrates integrity, good judgment, and the courage to raise E&C risks and issues, as well as able to access and influence senior leaders to discuss E&C activities and issues with the ability to provide practical solutions.
