Are you passionate about shaping global sustainability initiatives?
We are looking for the next Sustainability Leader, who will manage a Group-wide Sustainability & Impact function globally. As the Sustainability Manager, you will be key in setting and implementing sustainability & impact strategy across a group of companies.
The role involves regular interaction with the Group Board, Group Board Sustainability Committee, leading the Group Sustainability Task Force, Group Companies, operational sites, suppliers, and customers. Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage Group-wide Sustainability & Impact function globally, including line managing a Sustainability Analyst.
2. Oversee non-financial data gathering and reporting activities across the group (including scope 1, 2 & partial scope 3 emissions data and other ESG metrics).
3. Lead quarterly sustainability working group meetings and communicate outcomes to the board-level sustainability committee.
4. Coordinate activities related to voluntary sustainability programmes (EcoVadis, UNGC).
5. Develop strategies to comply with upcoming EU sustainability regulations such as CSRD and CS3D.
6. Make decisions on energy procurement and act as energy advisor within the group.
7. Prepare annual carbon reports under SECR and other non-UK carbon reporting standards.
8. Lead projects to introduce sustainable practices, infrastructure, and equipment to group operations.
9. Manage sustainability department activities (e.g., Life-cycle assessments, questionnaires).
10. Support marketing and communication of sustainability initiatives and provide ESG/CSR training and advocacy.
11. Represent the group at external events, industry meetings, conferences, and working groups.
Candidate Background:
Must have:
* Sustainability experience.
* Education to BSc or MSc level.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to present information succinctly.
* Stakeholder management skills.
* Logical reasoning and analytical skills.
* Good organizational skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Full UK driving license.
Nice to have:
* Education in environmental, sustainability, or energy management disciplines.
* Experience in life sciences or materials related to sustainability.
* Knowledge of UK and EU sustainability regulations.
* Knowledge of chemicals and chemical manufacturing or distribution.
* IT skills including Microsoft Dynamics.
