Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Sales Administrator / Transport Planner to support our Tipper transport department and ensure smooth operations. This role involves managing customer inquiries, processing orders, managing driver workloads, and routing vehicles to ensure the company remains compliant, efficient, and sustainable. The ideal candidate will be organised, have excellent customer service skills, and be able to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
Responsibilities for the job role:
1. Managing the day-to-day workloads of the department's fleet and resolving issues accordingly.
2. Evaluate and assess best routes and job lists for all vehicles, bearing in mind cost implications of logistics and customer service, and instruct drivers accordingly.
3. Ensure that drivers are informed of lorry inspection date and time, liaise with other departments to ensure the smooth running of this.
4. Build a strong working relationship with the Workshop Team to manage breakdown and vehicle inspections.
5. Check and authorise driver daily log sheets and bring to the attention any discrepancies or information that requires further action (e.g., overbooking of hours, reduced work rate) and check for consistency with tracker.
6. Complete reports of daily activities for the Transport Manager, ensuring that any dropped loads are picked up in an appropriate time frame.
7. Receive and direct appropriately incoming phone calls and emails for the ordering and supply of services.
8. Work closely with the Commercial Manager and Sales team, advising them of vehicle availability to ensure that all customer orders are filled and any limitations are addressed ahead of time.
