This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the business with experience of the UK MoD Safety and Environmental processes. Marshall Land Systems is a key partner in a consortium of UK companies who are collaborating on the design, development, deployment and support of new electronic systems for UK MoD that will provide a critical capability for UK Armed service personnel. Your role will be to ensure that the new systems are developed and deployed with appropriate safety and environmental engineering rigour. You will work as part of a CORE management team and act as an extension to the UK MoD safety and environmental team. You will do this by drawing on your experience in the safety and environmental engineering field to both give advice and assurance to UK MoD and provide oversight of teams developing the cutting edge new equipment. Travel within UK will be required. Your responsibilities will include: The S&E Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining project Safety and Environmental Management Systems for defence contracts in accordance with extant and future defence S&E policy, legislation and regulations. This includes the maintenance of a Safety and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) throughout the duration of the project. The S&E Manager is the principal point of contact for the customer stakeholder community, internal project stakeholders as well as integrated ecosystem members on all S&E matters. Establishment, Maintenance and Enactment of the Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) for the assigned project, based on current Defence S&E Policy, Legislation and requirements, particularly the MOD Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS). Monitoring and reporting of progress and achievement against the safety and environmental targets and objectives as and when tasked. Act as the lead point of contact for all Safety and Environmental matters with the Customer stakeholder Advising the project and wider stakeholders on the feasibility of technical solutions to deliver against safety hazards and environmental impacts. Performing S&E auditing internally to the project as well as against ecosystem members and wider stakeholders. Liaising with appointed Independent Safety and Environmental Assessors (ISEAs) to support audits and provide project documentations, where required. Tasks: Ensuring Safety and Environmental Plans, Assessments and reports are delivered according to the SEMS and project schedules. Maintaining a current knowledge of the Defence Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS) and associated Defence Standards, Regulations and Legislation. Supporting Safety and Environmental Engineers in delivering Safety and Environmental Case Reports (SECRs) and in defining supporting artefacts and assessments. Planning and Supporting Safety and Environmental Working Groups internally and managing the execution of Project Safety and Environmental Panel (PSEP) Meetings on behalf of customer stakeholders. Conducting S&E Audits, both internally and with Ecosystem members, including supporting appointed independent S&E auditors in executing their activities. Investigating any safety incidents and making recommendations for continuous improvement to the project. Detailed understanding of the MOD Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS), including: Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS) Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS) DEFSTAN 00-051, 00-055, 00-056 Knowledge of applicable Defence guidance as well as legislation and regulations that are applicable to defence projects across the CADMID lifecycle, including: JSP375, JSP418, JSP392 DSA03.DLSR.LSSR Defence Codes of Practice DSA02.DLSR Previous experience of applying IEC 61508 and the application of Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) to systems. Knowledge of Radiation Hazard (RADHAZ) management. Experience of management of S&E for electronic systems, particularly around Programmable Elements PE). Proficient use of Microsoft Office products Previous experience delivering defence projects, aligned with ASEMS Based on the nature of this work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain Security Clearance for UK MoD work.
