About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team and work closely with a Year 1 child with autism in a vibrant primary school located in Shepherd's Bush. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's education and development within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored one-to-one support to a child with autism, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic needs are met.
2. Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials where necessary.
3. Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
4. Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and review the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
5. Encourage and promote independence and confidence in the child's daily activities.
6. Support the child during transitions and unstructured times, such as playtime and lunchtimes.
About You:

4. Familiar with autism-friendly strategies and approaches, or eager to learn them.
Essential Requirements:
1. Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
2. A good understanding of autism and how it can impact learning and behavior.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. The ability to build a trusting and positive relationship with the child and their family.
5. Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable:
1. Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness training).
2. Previous experience in a similar role or setting.
