This is a senior role within the Real Estate Advisory team with a focus on driving the growth of our Infrastructure & Capital Projects advisory services. We’re looking for a professional with strong experience of business development, engagement delivery, team leadership and the continued development of our people and services. We have a diverse team of people from a wide range of backgrounds including engineering, construction, project management, cost consultancy and accountancy. We bring a combination of sector specific insights and experience ranging from early-stage strategy definition, through programme set up and capability building to technology implementation. These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.Connect to your opportunity The role is for an experienced capital projects advisory leader with who is comfortable with selling and managing the delivery of engagements in the following key areas: Delivery Strategy: Defining the key aspects of how a major programme will be delivered. This includes the delivery model covering both internal delivery and external supply chain, management of key stakeholder relationships and strategic governance etc. Target Operating Model: Designing and deploying a new operating model for capital project delivery, particularly in the areas of Project Controls and Commercial Management. Digital Capital Projects: Supporting clients in digitising the delivery of their major programmes. This may include the use of innovative technologies such as blockchain or Artificial Intelligence, or more traditional approaches such as the definition of requirements for systems used to manage the delivery or capital projects. Programme Turnaround: Helping clients to re-establish confidence in the delivery of their programmes, usually through the establishment of effective project and programme management, governance and the management information needed to support effective decision making. Asset Management: Helping clients with established infrastructure to drive asset management improvements that result in better asset and business performance and drive efficiency. Programme Assurance: reviewing the performance, particularly the commercial performance and contract compliance of major construction programmes to identify areas for improvement. Many of our engagements involve collaboration across Deloitte teams both in the UK and overseas to deliver multi-disciplinary solutions. We are looking for people who are comfortable dealing with clients at the executive and senior management levels, many of whom may not be specialists in capital projects and how they are delivered. This will require someone who is an excellent communicator and is able to summarise complex situations and technical information into clear and actionable advice. Example experience includes: Development of a Delivery Strategy and commercial model for a multi-billion pound capital investment programme Design and implementation of a new operating model for key capabilities within a Major Infrastructure client such as Project Controls – cost, schedule and risk management and reporting Creation of an assurance framework including specific measures to assess value for money in capital project delivery to demonstrate performance to an economic regulator Definition of the business requirements for a new technology solution(s) to be used in the management of capital projects Setting up and running of a Programme Management Office to turn around an underperforming complex capital investment programme Developing a Strategic Asset Management Plan that sets out the short-, medium- and long-term asset investment plan and associated maintenance strategies to deliver the stated business objectives. Essential Requirements: A professional qualification or equivalent related industry experience that shows understanding of major capital project delivery and/or asset management. A relevant degree (i.e., engineering, business, management) and/or a relevant post graduate qualification, or equivalent. Broad and deep experience of Infrastructure & Capital Projects across different sectors and covering the broad range of capabilities. Strong commercial acumen and market awareness. The ability to build strong, effective working relationships both internally and externally. Excellent oral and written communication skills; with an ability to present complex subjects in an engaging and simple manner. Good understanding of financial, business and asset drivers that relate to capital projects organisations. Confidence and proactivity that can generate momentum for clients and teams during change.
