We are looking for a Senior Economic Development Officer to cover the South-Western half of North Yorkshire. The post-holder will have responsibility for effectively promoting & supporting business growth in a sustainable way. The role will provide the initial point of contact for businesses, developers and investors providing support and market intelligence as well as being the business face of the council. The ability to think creatively and to work collaboratively are key attributes for this exciting and dynamic role.

The Role
As our next Senior Economic Development Officer, you will be a critical member of the team, you will be the first port of call for enquiries from local businesses looking to expand their premises, external businesses looking to move to the area, developers, investors, and landowners. You will work closely with the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority team and others to deliver a program of support to enable the North Yorkshire economy to thrive.
You will also:
1. Take the lead on enquiries relating to business expansion, Inward Investment & market support.
2. Take the lead on the delivery of specific location based economic development activity.
3. Feed back market intelligence to improve the councils understanding of the local economy.
4. Proactively engage with the Combined Authority T&I team as well as other business support organisations.
5. Record your interactions on the Customer Relationship Management software.
6. Attend/participate in/organise business events and workshops particularly around trade & investment.
What you will bring
If you are able to be pro-active and work across a diverse range of projects undertaken by the Economic Development Team particularly around developing growth and investment opportunities, then this could be the role for you.
You will have:
1. Experience of a wide range of projects
2. Experience of both working independently and alongside colleagues to design, develop and implement practical projects and facilitate investment.
3. Knowledge of modern communication and marketing methods including social media, websites & other digital media
4. Ability to analyse and manipulate statistical data and write reports drawing appropriate conclusions
Due to the nature of the role, there will be a need to travel and attend meetings within the south-western area of North Yorkshire, and occasionally beyond.
