Pastoral Teaching Assistant – Oldham
Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced pastoral teaching assistant in a popular Secondary School in Oldham. This position is to start September 2024 and will be ongoing until July but could become permanent.
This position will be ideal for a recent graduate or for someone with teaching assistant experience. You will be supporting with students that find mainstream education over stimulating and experience negative behaviour. The school help these students through a “stepping stone” program to help support them back into mainstream lessons. You must be a robust individual that would be able to understand and help students with SEMH.
The opportunity is to work at a school that has ‘Good’ behaviour and attitudes, which means students behave well in lesson and around the school site. Teachers’ expectations of pupils’ behaviour and achievements are high. There are also wide opportunities for students to engage in the local community and in the school life.

Minimum rate of pay – from £95 per day.
Hours – 8:30am – 4pm
Experience, Training and qualifications:
1. Secondary School experience or evidence of working with children
2. GCSE English and Maths grade ‘C’ or ‘4’ & above
3. Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however training can be provided)
4. Up to date Prevent training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however, training can be provided)
5. Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, however training can be provided)
To be eligible you must have/be :
6. Hold Right to Work in the UK
7. Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
8. Provide a minimum of two references covering the last 2 years.
