Responsible Individual & Operations Manager for Residential Children's Home
We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Responsible Individual/Operations Manager for an outstanding Children’s Home organisation based in Staffordshire.

Experience:
This is a wonderful opportunity for an existing responsible individual to help our organisation flourish or for a registered manager looking to progress onto the next phase of their career. Given the responsibility it undertakes, we do require at least 3 - 5 years experience as a manager in residential care (or a mirror industry).
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities (Responsible Individual)
Leadership and Compliance:
* Ensure the home complies with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements, and all relevant statutory guidance.
* Act as the main point of contact with Ofsted, ensuring regulatory notifications are submitted and responded to in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance:
* Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided in the home, ensuring it meets, and where always possible exceeds, the Quality Standards.
* Conduct regular audits of records, care plans, and policies to ensure compliance and best practices.
Safeguarding:
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are robust and followed by all staff, promoting the safety and well-being of children and young people.
* Lead on serious case reviews, complaints, and any safeguarding investigations.
Supervision of Registered Managers:
* Provide supervision, guidance, and support to the Registered Manager(s) of the children’s home(s) to ensure effective day-to-day management.
* Support managers in maintaining a positive and stable home environment for children.
Staff Management and Development:
* Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of staff, ensuring they are skilled and equipped to deliver high standards of care.
* Monitor staff performance, conduct appraisals, and address performance concerns as necessary alongside the registered manager.
Resource Management:
* Ensure the home operates within budget, managing resources effectively to deliver value without compromising quality.
* Oversee maintenance and health and safety checks to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
* Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the home's performance, including addressing any regulatory feedback or areas for improvement.
* Promote a culture of excellence, reflective practice, and continuous development across the team.
Partnership Working
* Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities, social workers, and other professionals.
* Represent the organization in meetings and advocate for the needs and best interests of the children and young people in care.
Child-Focused Practice
* Ensure the rights, voice, and experiences of children and young people are at the heart of all decisions and operations.
* Promote positive outcomes for children, including their education, health, and emotional well-being.
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (or equivalent).
* At least 5 years of management experience in a children’s residential care setting.
* A thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
Skills and Abilities
* Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff teams.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with children, staff, and external stakeholders effectively.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in auditing and quality improvement.
* To be the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual for the children's home and act on behalf of the organisation to ensure that the home meets relevant requirements set out in legislation.
* To provide effective leadership and management of the home.
* To ensure a high standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, government guidance, regulations and standards and the policies and procedures of the registered provider.
* To oversee the management of placements within the home and to liaise with managers in formulating jointly agreed plans to ensure a coordinated approach to services for children and young people.
Knowledge
* Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation and procedures.
* Awareness of trauma-informed care and the ability to support children with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
* Substantial experience of managing care planning practice in children's homes. A wealth of Ofsted experiences identifying, assessing, care planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating outcomes.
* Extensive knowledge of law and practice relating to looked after children. Have the business and management skills to supervise the management of the service efficiently and effectively.

* Flexibility and resilience to adapt to the demands of the role, including working under pressure.
Other Requirements
* Enhanced DBS check.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
* Willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends as required.
* Experience acting as a Responsible Individual or working at a senior leadership level in children’s services.
* Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed care approaches.
* Additional management or leadership qualifications.
Pay: £58,000.00-£65,000.00 per year FTE
