Continuous Improvement Manager

Our client is looking for a dedicated and hands-on Continuous Improvement Manager to join their small, dynamic engineering business. This role is perfect for those that like to take a hands-on approach to their work and thrive in a small business environment.
Overview of the position
Working closely with production teams and senior leadership, the CI Manager will be responsible for identifying opportunities for implementing strategies that foster a culture of continuous improvement. This is role is essential in driving operational excellence and improving efficiencies, reducing waste, and ensuring smooth running and organisation of the shop floor. The CI Manager will play a key role in enhancing health and safety practices, maintaining high standards and delivering measurable improvements across a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and improve shop floor efficiency: identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
Reduce waste, labour inefficiencies and energy consumption and optimise resources.
Drive Health and Safet Improvements; identify risks and develop preventative measures and implement best practices that comply with regulatory standards.
Implement 5C Methodology and Shop Floor Organisation
Lead Continuous Improvement Projects ranging from project optimisations and equip upgrades to employee training initiatives.
Facilitate Kaizen Events; organise and lead Kaizen or similar improvement workshops to engage employees in identifying opportunities for improvement.
Monitor and analyse KPIs such as cycle times, productivity and safety metrics.
Champion CI culture including providing training and mentorship to build internal capability in CI tools and methodologies.
Ensure compliance and quality standards are met: ensure that all changes comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
Communicate and collaborate with leadership. Regularly report to management on the status of improvementsSkills & Experience
Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and waste reduction strategies.
Experience leading safety initiatives or collaborating with health and safety teams in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple small-scale projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence staff at all levels.
Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to troubleshooting operational challenges.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and the use of metrics to drive-decision making.
Ability to lead training and development workshops on CI principles and foster employee engagement in improvement initiatives.Skills & Experience (desirable)
Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) qualified (or equivalent)
Familiarity with metal fabrication processes, tools and equipment.
Experience working in SME organisations would be highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shop floor management software (e.g. ERP/MRP systems).Want to recruit a similar role?
