The Water Quality operations team ensures the supply of safe and wholesome water to our customers. The role of scientific officer involves in supporting a variety of other teams in the decision-making process for smooth operations to guarantee quantity and quality of the water supplied.
Principal accountabilities
As scientific officer you will help oversee a variety of activities occurring at our operational sites. You will have full visibility of sample results and projects and will combine them to assess a variety of jobs and ensure these are satisfactorily completed.
Attend on site visits to carry out audits and inspections.
Decide on and approve what samples are taken and for what parameters.
Compile data and provide informative commentary for reports.
Decide on and approve what actions are taken following a water quality issue.
Support the Operations Scientist to respond to all water quality-related calls concerning production and supply issues, distribution network issues, sampling failures and incidents phoned through from the customer call centres.
Liaise with stakeholders internally and externally, representing the business in a positive and professional manner.
Support the delivery of projects within Water Quality Services, managing projects to time and quality, and managing risk.
Support the Water Quality Services team in delivering water quality related training at all levels within the company and for external groups.
Deputise for the Operations Scientist.
