Description of Job
To coordinate the musical activities across the church and enhance our calling to be a vibrant, missional and multi-generation Christian community. We worship God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, living our daily lives as worship and sharing our faith with Ecclesall and beyond.
To lead and equip an extensive group of volunteers to provide worship music both choral led and band led at multiple services on a Sunday and occasionally in the week.
We are looking for someone who will bring creativity, training and innovation to all areas of music in the church, with strong organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to encourage people to develop in their music skills and to participate in the music life of the church.
Responsibilities:
* To attend and participate in weekly team meetings and in the work of the whole staff team.
* To bring creativity, training and innovation to all areas of music in the church.
* To grow the number of people who volunteer in this area of church life.
* To lead and or participate in the worship of at least one of the band-led services per week.
* To coordinate contemporary, band led worship, managing rotas, running basic training, leading bands, and being a musician in volunteer led bands.
* To oversee (with the Youth Minister) the Youth led band who lead one evening service a month, developing and encouraging the musicians to lead this service.
* To provide leadership and conducting for the choir of the 9.15 service, including leading the weekly Friday evening rehearsal with the choir and occasional other training opportunities.
* To choose music and hymns for the 9.15 service with the choir core team.
* To coordinate with numerous classical musicians, mainly organists and pianists, but also for special services involving small orchestras and quartets, aiming to utilize these musicians more in the future and build up the groups.
* To maintain a safe environment and ensure that all safeguarding policies are implemented using Safer Recruitment policies and Safer Working Practice. You must also undertake all relevant Diocese training events renewed every three years.
Hours: 18 hours per week, including Sundays, a Friday evening rehearsal, and weekday office hours by negotiation.
