A Vacancy at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
• The ATO, under supervision, will assist in the provision of stock medicinal products and feeds to wards and departments.
• This will involve selecting medicinal products using a prepared picking list, visiting wards to check ward stock, processing information onto the computer, load handling and stock control.
• Daily duties require the post holder to relay messages between ward and departmental staff, pharmacy staff and to liaise with and support the Pharmacy Storekeepers and the Pharmacy Porters in their duties.
• The ATO, once trained and under supervision will assist ward-based pharmacy technicians/pharmacists to deliver medicines optimisation on the wards by completing POD (Patients own medication) checks and ordering of stock where required.
Provision of Ward and Departmental stock from goods held in Pharmacy Stores Distribution
• From the prepared list of requirements select items required from the Pharmacy Store and Pharmacy Robot and pack them ready for return to wards and departments.
• Visit wards and departments to check and review all stock other than Controlled Drugs.
• Using details from stock check input information into pharmacy computer and prepare a list of medicines, fluids and enteral products required to bring the ward stock up to correct levels.
• To maintain the ward or department stock cupboard in as neat and tidy a condition as possible.
• To monitor expiry dates and ensure stock rotation.
• To list and remove excess, out-dated or near-dated stock from ward or department and highlight with senior team where necessary.
• To identify wards or departments who could use near-dated stock and ensure stock rotation means this material is used first.
• To use Pyxis machines at ward level ensuring stock is maintained accurately and in a timely manner.
