This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Major Sporting Events and Delivery Unit & DCMS Finance to work on the planning for UK and Ireland hosting the mens UEFA European Championships in 2028 (EURO 2028). EURO 2028 will be the largest sporting event that the UK and Ireland have ever jointly hosted. The Head of Finance will lead the management of UK governments contribution to the tournament budget. Key responsibilities include: Managing the UK government's contributions to the Tournament Hosting Budget, maintaining robust oversight of DCMS' own spend and forecasting Advising the Senior Responsible Officer and Programme Director on emerging issues to support decision-making, protect value for money and ensure delivery in line with Managing Public Money Ensuring clear financial reporting and analysis to relevant governance groups, and represent the team on governance groups as required Managing the programme's inputs into Spending Review and Business Planning processes, and Supplementary estimates Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders Leading establishment of Memoranda of Understanding underpinning funding as required and ensure financial compliance from delivery partners Ensuring financial best practice, identifying risk and implementing controls Owning the financial section of the Full Business Case, including leading on any required updates Work with DCMS Finance colleagues to ensure effective financial controls are maintained.
