Job summary As a Registered Nurse with us in the emergency department you will be able to work across all areas of the specialty including Triage, Minor Injuries and Illness (Ambulatory Pathway), Majors (Clinical Assessment) and in our Resuscitation Room as we are a Trauma Unit receiving road and air ambulances. As a part of the Medicine Care Group we are partnered with the Acute Medical Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit providing Emergency Care to the Lancashire and Cumbria area. Main duties of the job We are looking for suitably qualified nurses from a variety of adult nursing specialties, however post registration experience is not essential we offer a preceptorship program for newly qualified nurse who would like a career in emergency nursing, all new staff have a period of supernumerary working and all staff have a mentor to coach you through your first 12 months. For more experienced nurses we also run an on-going development post with the opportunity to develop Clinical Leadership skills. We offer a variety of flexible working arrangements to ensure a work life balance that supports both yourself and our patients. The role would require shift working/night working to cover the needs of our 24 hour service. About us We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals.
