Thanks to an award from the Royal Countryside Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund, we have created a new role at Watchtree with the primary objective of ‘making the most from our land for local nature and people’. This role will encompass the workload of our existing Habitat and Estates Team Leader who is retiring in June, but it will also include responsibility for writing, funding, implementing and monitoring of new Habitat Management Plans for our Woodland, Wetlands, Scrub and Hay Meadows. As well as additional responsibilities working alongside our Education and Marketing Teams. You may notice that this is the second time we have advertised this role, on the first attempt we didn’t feel we found an individual with the knowledge and experience to take on this challenge. Therefore we have updated the Job description and increased the contracted hours of the post to full-time. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual to make the most of our land for local wildlife and people. Ensuring that habitat management plans are achieving our environmental objectives and that they are delivered in a safe and efficient manner. They will work closely with the Education and Marketing Teams to create a greater connection and understanding between visitors and our habitats. As well as developing existing income streams from land management and forging new ones, to contribute towards the reserve’s long-term sustainability objectives.
