A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Project Controls/Planner with Construction experience to join the team with our prestigious client at their site in Barrow In Furness, this is a hybrid opportunity with on-site working being at least 2 days per week.
Summary
The SPCM will work as part of our Project Controls team and will be responsible supporting the Project Delivery teams, applying best practice principles into all Project Control activities, including efficient methodology planning, baseline / forecast control, EVM reporting, schedule updates, forecast to complete, resource loading, and risk & opportunity. Specific sector related project experience is advantageous but not essential. The SPCM will ideally have previous major projects experience and be able to provide support and guidance across multiple live projects as well as contribute to tender programmes.
Duties
Accountable for ensuring all aspects of PM&C practices are effectively applied
Assist the site, project and commercial teams with reports on agreed dates, budgets, forecasting and cost
Interface between SRP,SSNA, and Site & Facilities managing data flow, communications and Leadership
Share good practice with others in the application of Project Management methodologies and tool sets
Conduct and attend meetings with clients
Be actively involved in business development and maintaining client relations
Liaise with stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors with engagement key
Understanding of contract management within planning such as Clause 31,32 programmes
Perform earned value analysis in support of assigned programs or projects
Ensure management understanding of network logic, Gantt, milestone lists, and resource information in the schedule
Ensure major projects and program schedules and plans are integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality
Set objectives for own job area to meet the goals of projects and assignments
Explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures of the job area to others within the organisation
Identify, define, and address general problems that are typically within the immediate job area
Utilise prior experiences to support problem solving and/ or standard procedures and basic analysis
Work to achieve operational targets within job area with some impact on department results
A requirement to provide mentorship, guidance and support to entry level professional
Responsibilities
Accountable as a member of the PM&C team for supporting development and implementation of appropriately tailored PM&C practices.
May have supervisory responsibilities for a one or two staff.
Expected to provide technical support to team members.
Accountable for ensuring one or more aspects of PM&C practices in the project are suitable for purpose
Budget Responsibilities
No budget responsibilities would the expected at this level from a financial perspective, but there are likely to be time and resource constraints.
Knowledge
Construction knowledge/background (essential)
Cost / Planning PMC experience (essential)
Microsoft Office tool set (essential)
Must have experience working within construction/Nuclear environment or engineering discipline, and 5 years' experience as a minimum
Must have a strong understanding of planning, earned value, progress measurement, cost and change control during pre and post contract
Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management (tools, techniques, practices) including primarily P6, Cobra
Able to develop innovative training plans and schedules
Extensive understanding of the Business environment for own project and teams.
Recognised as an experienced Project Management practitioner
Experience working on large scale projects
Skills
Cost control (SAP & P6 skills), change management – understanding of full cycle
CEMAR Sub contract management software (desirable)
Strong front end Design Planning experience (Awareness of RIBA/GRIP/PACE/ EPC stages advantageous)
Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Experience of contractor programme analysis to merge into master schedule
Be rigorous in following documented processes and governance
Working knowledge of contracts such as NEC3, NEC4, FIDIC contracts
Qualifications
Applicants should be qualified to a minimum HNC in an applicable discipline or equivalent experience
Member of professional membership of RICS, AcostE, CIOB or APM
Evidence of qualifications is required including year, course, and University attended
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
