An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and newly qualified Solicitor to join Paul Crowley & Co’s highly regarded Criminal team based in Anfield.
The successful candidate will have experience in or is interested in making the switch to Criminal Law. You will have a high degree of self-management and initiative to help navigate a full caseload.
Person Specification & Requirements:
1. Strong time-management and ability to manage a caseload.
2. Knowledge and experience of Legal Aid.
3. Genuine passion for criminal law.
4. Commercially minded.
5. Personable, confident and articulate communicator.
6. Pro-active and ‘can do’ attitude.
7. Starting to build own referral source would be advantageous.
8. Duty Solicitor accreditation or willing to work towards.
9. May have some knowledge and experience of Lexcel Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the effective management and advisory service of all aspects of allocated Criminal Law cases.
2. Represent clients at hearings and court trials.
3. Attend allocated Duty Solicitor slot as agreed and ensure duty solicitor compliance.
4. Attend and comply with ‘on call’ responsibilities and duties as agreed.
5. Negotiate plea negotiations, punishments, and settlements.
6. Providing advice and guidance to other members of staff within the Criminal Department.
7. Drafting legal documents and various court applications.
8. Undertake any specific training when required and to have overall responsibility towards self-development.
9. Legal Aid work.
10. Be actively involved in ensuring compliance in Lexcel and other standards.
11. Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
12. Be actively involved in marketing and business development activities and networking.
13. Undertake any other duties as required by the Directors as necessary for other fee earners and members of staff.

£30,000 to £45,000 DOE
