Salary: 23,000 - 26,000
Hours: 37.5 hours a week (Mon - Fri)

Our client is one of the UK’s leading freight forwarding & logistics providers with offices based in Eastleigh, Southampton. They are an award-winning bespoke freight forwarding business that evokes passion in every aspect of their business.
We are now seeking a Customs Clearance Operator to join our team on a Temp-to-perm basis.
The ideal candidate will have some experience with customs declarations or work in the logistics or shipping sector. This position would also suit a college or University Graduate who is looking to take their first steps into the world of logistics & shipping.
Above all, a positive attitude and aptitude for learning are the most important qualities we are looking for. Full training will be provided.
You will be responsible for managing the Customs entry process, handling the respective paperwork, and coordinating between customers, suppliers, consignees, and agents. You will submit import/export customs entries following & applying customs procedures as appropriate. Attention to detail is imperative as a variety of systems are used, and you will be working in a fast-paced environment. Someone who takes pride in their work is a must, and you must be able to react to new tasks that change daily as well as be able to multi-task.

Customs Administrator Responsibilities:
* Liaising with agents, customers, and consignees
* Preparation and completion of customs entries for import and export clearances
* Dealing with entry queries - commodity codes, duty rates, and documentation requirements
* Calculation of Duty and VAT rates per consignment where applicable
* Maintaining compliance with current and evolving legislation, laws, and customs procedures
* Invoicing
Skills and Qualifications:
* Shipping & Customs experience is essential
* Conscientious with attention to detail
* A keen attitude and willingness to learn
* Ability to follow processes
* Self-motivated, reliable, trustworthy, and hard-working
* Work equally well on their own and as part of a team
* Strong customer service skills
