A long established and world leader in the manufacture of personal care and homecare consumer products are currently partnered with Woodstock Recruitment in the search for an R&D Technician to join their team.
Coming from a previous chemical R&D / QC / Development technician role, ideally within the consumer chemical industries or being a recent graduate in Chemistry or closely related field, you will join an efficient, friendly and stable team.
Key responsibilities:
* Responsible for the stability testing of new products, including all packaging components.
* Complete competitor analysis of products on an agreed volume and timescale with the relevant department.
* Responsible for the continued calibration of essential laboratory equipment.
* Maintain up to date chemical and consumable stocks in the laboratory areas, ensuring that all materials are within shelf life and that the COSHH assessments on file are up to date.
* Responsible for keeping the laboratory and storage area clean and tidy.
* Undertake risk assessments for activities within the R&D areas.
* Prepare samples for internal and external customer submission.
* Responsible for ensuring that all retain trials samples and materials whether kept internally or in outside warehousing are recorded and kept in an orderly manner.
* Freeze/Thaw testing.
* To produce samples in the laboratory for customers and testing purposes as and when requested.
* Assist the Product Development Team in planning and managing trials.
* Help to generate in-house specifications (Materials, liquid formations, products etc).
* Product Claim Support & Performance Testing.
* Manages assigned projects from initiation to completion, meeting required timescales.
* Helps to develop tests and test methods for new products / processes and to simplify current practices.
* Assist the Product Development Team in the support of Production and Engineering in process development and optimisation.
* Where needed consult with external service and consumables suppliers to ensure that department facilities and processes are maintained.
Skills, experience and qualifications:
* Previous experience of working in a chemical QC/R&D environment, ideally within cosmetics, personalcare, homecare or wider chemical industry OR a chemistry related degree qualification
* Experience of working in an FMCG manufacturing business
* Ideally experience of UV spectroscopy
