To be considered for this role, you would need to have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) The role As a secondary class teacher, you would support students with special educational needs, specifically autism, within our secondary phase. The role would see you planning a full range of sessions across the week to develop our students learning and independent skills. The role is to teach a mixed key stage 4/5 class of nine students aged 14-17. Students are working towards Functional Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. They have a broad and balanced curriculum that is designed to support their transition to Post 16 provisions. The students need a creative but structured approach to learning. Our secondary students are working to develop their preparation for adulthood skills. An understanding of how to support students to achieve nationally recognised qualifications would be beneficial. Part of the role will be to lead a team of teaching assistants who help the class run smoothly. Y ou will have access to work with specialist facilities, such as our therapy pool and sensory rooms, creating unique and inspiring environments. This is a full-time, term-time position. About You For this secondary phase of learning, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate: Expertise in teaching and qualified teacher status Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons to inspire, engage and motivate pupils A positive attitude and ability to remain calm, even under pressure Experience of teaching students with Autism is desirable Clear and effective communication The ability to use your initiative Ability to manage a team of teaching assistants effectively Willingness to support with all aspects of students day including personal care Is well organised and keen to further develop their skills Have a sound understanding of pedagogy and creative approach to teaching and learning Don't just take our word for it, hear what our students have to say Background As a Teacher with us, you will embark on our 12 week on-boarding programme completing a variety of in-house training and development courses to allow you to learn about each student and how you can best support them. You will also have the opportunity to continuously gain new skills during your career with us, whether this is learning sign language, becoming a training tutor yourself or completing NVQ qualifications to allow you to progress within the charity.
