At Farnborough, we have one opportunity in our Finance team, and one opportunity in the Pensions team.
The Finance department at BMW UK are responsible for all Accounting and Controlling activities for the UK and Irish National Sales Companies of the BMW Group. As a diverse team of around 25 people, we work with all areas of the business to profitably steer the company in order to achieve our financial objectives. We are responsible for all operational aspects, ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the finance processes, and accurate financial reporting, both internally and externally. We are constantly looking to increase our efficiency and smarter ways of working.
* Participate in the Finance month and year end processes to ensure timely and accurate recording of entries in financial accounting systems.
* Support Finance projects. This can include identifying potential projects, providing expertise to on-going projects, and taking ownership of projects from end-to-end. In particular, focusing on the areas of process improvement and simplification.
* Act as key contact for SAP users across all areas of the business, supporting them with system requests and providing advice and guidance. This will also help develop an understanding of the wider business and provide a great networking opportunity.
The Pensions team is responsible for supporting the Trustees in their responsibilities in respect of BMW Group’s defined benefit (DB) pension schemes in the UK. We provide accounting services to the Trustees which involves preparing regular management accounts and ensuring that the accounting records reflect the latest asset values and transactions.
* Support in the preparation of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as the tracking and monitoring of investment management expenses.
* Support the administration associated with the pension schemes’ investments. This includes liaising with investment managers to ensure that the relevant documentation is in place, as well as helping to prepare for Trustee Investment Committee meetings.
* Exposure to and involvement in a wide variety of pensions, asset management and accounting activity.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Studying for a Bachelor's degree and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in a relevant numerical discipline such as, but not limited to, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Finance and Business, Mathematics.
* A-level results and including at least one numerical based A Level such as Maths, Economics or Accounting.
* Strong numerical ability to understand and check calculations.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Highly self-motivated and an ability to work well under pressure.
* Experience of using Microsoft Suite such as; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
