This post is funded through the Workforce Youth Investment programme and therefore is restricted to applicants who live in Fife and are aged between 16 and 24. The Research and Insight Team is responsible for leading and delivering the Council’s research function to drive an evidence-based approach to decision-making, using prioritised research and intelligence on strategy, communities and business operations, key community insight to support community-based working, strategic outcome and assessment products to support strategy and planning, an insight approach to improve the effectiveness of prevention agendas, and insight intelligence on service demand by place, priority and demographic. As a Graduate Data Scientist, you will assist in the development of data science solutions to help Fife Council deliver services that are more personalised, efficient and effective. This role will include: Working closely with stakeholders to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making Collecting, analysing and interpreting data for prioritised research projects Delivering analytical products, identifying methods of approach, customer requirements and key datasets to support No Wrong Door operating model Preparing reports for senior managers Keeping up to date with agreed areas of knowledge / practice in data science and to share this expertise across the Council. The Person A degree or postgraduate qualification in a discipline with numerical or statistical elements Practical skills in the use and manipulation of data including data cleaning, formatting and presentation Knowledge of research and data analysis tools and techniques, including predictive analytics Evidence of an analytical approach to problems and effective use of knowledge. The post holder should be educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a degree or equivalent qualification or experience http://scqf.org.uk/interactive-framework/, and qualified in a numerate or statistical discipline. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
