Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, performs a variety of semi-skilled construction, maintenance, modification, and repair activities in assigned maintenance operations areas, which may include carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs at residential and service facilities and grounds work; supervises Maintenance Specialist I as assigned and performs related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Travel required to the villages on the North Slope when assigned.
* Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities depending upon the area of assignment, including performing basic trade activities such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
* Maintains and repairs HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
* Maintains and repairs physical structures as needed.
* Uses power tools and other equipment to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and/or other repairs and maintenance.
* Inspects facilities, equipment, and grounds for necessary repairs, improvements, or preventative maintenance.
* Maintains accurate records and inventory control/receiving reports.
* Performs janitorial duties on the grounds and in facilities as assigned.
* Communicates changes and progress, responds promptly to customer needs; meets commitments.
* Prepares written reports.
* Observes TNHA safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
* Maintains complete confidentiality of all information obtained through professional and client interactions.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

Required:
* High school graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) recipient.
* Four (4) years experience with carpentry, mechanics, electrical, and plumbing.
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, MS Project), Windows OS, and internet tools; adaptable to learning new job-specific software.
* Strong reasoning skills with the ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats (written, verbal, diagrams, schedules).
* Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets TNHA insurance criteria.
Preferred:
* Alaskan/American Indian (member of federally recognized tribe).
* Current Hazardous Materials Training certification.
* 10-hour OSHA Construction certification.
* Ability to speak and/or understand conversational Inupiaq.
Physical Demands: This role frequently involves working outside in cold weather and requires regular physical activity, including heavy lifting. It also involves frequent movement, such as walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Visual acuity for reaching and operating equipment is required. This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring alertness and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
Work Environment: The work environment is both indoor and outdoor settings, often exposed to cold weather conditions. It may involve travel by small aircraft, working around heavy machinery, and in areas with varying noise levels.
