Joining EDF's emergency preparedness placement means becoming a key player in our Emergency Planning Group. You'll be an integral part of daily operations, contributing to the enhancement of our emergency arrangements whilst gaining an understanding of how emergency planning is deployed in a complex and highly regulated industry. You will get involved in a broad spectrum of emergency planning areas, gain experience of team working, problem solving, using human performance tools and take part in emergency preparedness and industry related training. You will have the opportunity to visit power stations and observe emergency exercises and attend industry and multi-agency working groups. Training, development, and support for you Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning, working on real-world challenges that directly impact the energy industry. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you. You’ll have a chance to apply your academic training to genuine industry problems while completing modules that contribute towards your degree. You'll gain in-depth experience within the central Emergency Planning Group based in our Central Support Function. You’ll learn about systems vital to the development and deployment of emergency arrangements including development of training and exercises, selection and deployment of equipment, technical governance and assurance, regulatory interface, communication strategies and multi-agency interfaces. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to see how other departments within the organisation function, expanding your understanding of the broader industry. Who you are We are looking for candidates who are on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an Emergency Preparedness related discipline. You should possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a genuine desire to learn and develop new capabilities.
