CDW is seeking an experienced Data Protection professional to provide expert guidance and practical, business-minded advice in support of our global data protection program. Reporting to the Global Head of Data Privacy (U.S.), you’ll play a key role in driving privacy initiatives across EMEA and selected regions in Asia, ensuring compliance while enabling business growth.
This role operates in a matrixed global team, requiring strong collaboration and influence across multiple business functions. Success in this role means not only ensuring compliance but also making data protection engaging, relevant, and actionable.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a trusted advisor on data protection matters for UK&I teams, aligning with the Global Data Privacy team to develop and review compliance-related policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Partner with Marketing, Sales, IT, Information Security, Legal, and Procurement to provide practical, business-focused guidance that resonates across different functions.
* Support the development and implementation of global data privacy strategies, working closely with risk and assurance teams.
* Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), ensuring timely and compliant responses.
* Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), advising stakeholders on risks and guiding mitigation efforts.
* Conduct Legitimate Interest assessments where necessary.
* Champion Privacy by Design, establishing processes and best practices that are easy to adopt.
* Develop and deliver regional training programs, translating complex regulations into clear, compelling content.
* Assess vendor privacy compliance, collaborating with key stakeholders.
* Serve as the go-to data protection resource for EMEA, assisting in compliance queries and incident response.
* Work closely with local Data Protection Officers to provide expert support.
* Influence and educate stakeholders at all levels, making privacy an integral and engaging part of business operations.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience managing data protection compliance in a global organization.
* Expertise in risk assessments, data processing inventories, and data handling best practices.
* Strong knowledge of global data protection laws, including GDPR and UK data protection regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., ISO frameworks).
* Ability to work autonomously, identify issues, and provide clear, practical, and commercially focused guidance.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance strategic and tactical priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience facilitating workshops and training sessions that engage and influence stakeholders.
* A team player who takes ownership and thrives in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
* Ability to make privacy engaging and relevant to non-experts, influencing and educating stakeholders across multiple business functions.
* Adaptable and comfortable managing changing priorities and deadlines.
* Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of working under pressure and managing multiple priorities.
* Familiarity with technology-based compliance systems.
* Data Protection certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) are a plus.
* Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%).
