Salary - Salary in line with national apprenticeship wage
Hours - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Holiday - 23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) increasing by one day per each year of service (up to a maximum of 28 days)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant in our Peterborough office.
A fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to start your career in accountancy, joining an apprenticeship scheme, you will be working towards an internationally recognised accountancy qualification (AAT Level 3 with the chance to continue studies further) and gaining valuable on-the-job experience with a highly respected accountancy firm. We're seeking candidates who are eager to learn and grow, whether you're a recent school or college leaver.
You will join a dynamic accounts team with a high-quality client base and rapidly gain responsibility whilst at the same time completing your accounting qualification with us.
You will work on a variety of client projects, gaining real-world experience in the financial reporting, tax and audit departments. Equally as importantly you will learn how to work effectively in a team, how to build strong and lasting professional relationships and how to deliver exceptional client service. You'll be supported every step of the way, developing both technical expertise and essential professional skills. This is a diverse role and you need to be prepared to roll your sleeves up and have a willingness to learn.
Key responsibilities of a Trainee Accountant will include:
1. Preparing year-end accounts from physical or digital records
2. Maintaining weekly/monthly bookkeeping for clients
3. Preparing and submitting VAT returns
4. Assisting with personal tax returns
5. Supporting the preparation of Audit work papers
6. Carrying out general office administrative tasks to support the team
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
1. Minimum of Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English at GCSE
2. Minimum of grade C or equivalent at A-Level, predicted grades will be accepted but an offer will be conditional of grades achieved
3. Experience with Microsoft Office Excel is advantageous
4. Strong attention to detail
5. Self-motivated and willing to succeed
6. Highly personable with excellent communication skills
7. Organised, efficient with attention to detail
8. Able to demonstrate drive and initiative
9. Able to reliably commute to the Peterborough office
