The Clinical Lead RGN will provide clinical leadership and direct nursing care in the nursing home. The role involves managing a team of nursing and care staff, ensuring the highest standards of patient care are delivered, and maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies such as the CQC (Care Quality Commission). You will play a key role in developing care plans, conducting assessments, and supporting the team to ensure excellent outcomes for residents. Key Responsibilities: 1. Clinical Leadership: Lead by example in providing high-quality nursing care to residents. Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff and carers, offering guidance and support. Take responsibility for delegating tasks effectively and ensuring that staff members are well trained. Act as a clinical expert, providing advice on nursing practices, procedures, and medical issues. 2. Resident Care: Develop and review individual care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Provide a clinical assessment for new residents, ensuring their medical, social, and emotional needs are met. Monitor residents’ health and well-being, performing clinical assessments and administering treatments as necessary. Administer prescribed medications, ensuring safe and accurate procedures are followed. Carry out wound care, catheter management, and other clinical duties as required. Respond promptly to any changes in resident condition, escalating concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals. 3. Staff Management: Oversee day-to-day nursing and care activities, ensuring that the team delivers person-centered care. Lead team meetings and contribute to the continuous professional development (CPD) of staff. Ensure nursing staff adhere to the policies and procedures of the facility, maintaining a safe working environment. Provide training and development opportunities for staff to improve clinical skills and knowledge. 4. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure the nursing home is compliant with regulatory and statutory requirements, including CQC standards. Conduct audits of care delivery and clinical documentation to maintain high standards of care. Lead care reviews and participate in investigations and the implementation of corrective actions when necessary. 5. Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals: Work alongside multidisciplinary teams including GPs, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to plan and deliver comprehensive care. Liaise with families and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and communication about residents’ care. 6. Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety policies and infection control procedures are consistently followed. Participate in the development of risk assessments and ensure that any risks are minimized. Skills and Qualifications: Education: Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration. Experience: Previous experience as a Registered Nurse, with clinical leadership or supervisory experience within a care home or similar healthcare setting
