This role is primarily about supporting our customers in the United Kingdom and occasionally overseas, ensuring that their WestRock high-speed packaging machines are maintained in excellent condition and run at > 98% efficiency.
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the safety, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of WestRock packaging equipment in use at our customers' sites. They ensure that we always work safely and are actively involved in the continuous improvement of our work practices as well as implementing projects.
This is a role where you are encouraged to grow your knowledge and experience and become an active member of our WestRock Europe Field Service Team. As part of our global “One WestRock” strategy, we “innovate boldly” and “package sustainably” and you could be a part of that.
How you will impact WestRock:
1. Ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of WestRock machines
2. Installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance of new machines
3. Proactively monitoring machine performance and intervening to ensure maximum efficiency
4. Proactively managing scheduled maintenance of machines entrusted to you
5. Assessing machine mechanical wear and conducting the planned replacement of worn components
6. Improving the knowledge and skills of customer operators and maintainers and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where needed
7. Actively involved with the team to improve our own work practices
8. Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults and quickly escalating to colleagues when required
9. Ensuring that the correct tools, spare parts, and consumables are available
10. Input to the continuous improvement of WestRock’s machine design
What you will need to succeed:
1. Ideally 3 to 5 years’ experience of installing, maintaining, and repairing electro-mechanical machinery
2. Knowledge and practical experience of PLCs and Mechatronic systems
3. Independent, customer-oriented way of working
4. Performance-oriented thinking and acting
5. Willingness to challenge “we have always done it like this” thinking
6. Willingness to travel
7. Language: very good English (Another European language is a plus)
8. Project management experience is a plus
9. LEAN and Six Sigma experience is a plus
10. Continuous improvement experience is a plus
