As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering highway schemes that meet national standards and align with our client's Local Transport Plan. You will be responsible for project management, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the successful execution of infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and review highway designs in line with national and local regulations.
* Develop works orders and bespoke contracts using NEC Form of Contracts where necessary.
* Oversee project planning, financial control, and programme management.
* Supervise construction, ensuring quality and compliance with contractual obligations.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, representing our client professionally.
* Lead and manage engineering teams to deliver projects efficiently and safely.
What we are looking for:
Qualifications & Experience:
* HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent experience in highway design.
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in design engineering, with some team management responsibilities.
* Knowledge of relevant design standards (DMRB, MCHW, Manual for Streets).
* Experience using AutoCAD for highway scheme design.
* Understanding of NEC Forms of Contract and contract management principles.
* Strong awareness of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
Desirable:
* Progress towards a project management qualification.
* Experience in commercial negotiations related to engineering contracts.
* Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
Working Style:
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the Rochester office. There may be occasions when a full-time office presence is required.
