Clinical Psychologist - Older Adults Specialty, 1.0wte Band 7/8a depending on experience
We are seeking a clinical psychologist with experience and enthusiasm in working with older people, to join the friendly and supportive Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) based at Lytham Hospital on the beautiful Fylde Coast.
The RITT team provides a variety of approaches to support older people with complex mental health issues, with the aim of reducing the need for hospital admission where possible. A specialist care home liaison service is also provided to nursing and care homes.
The successful applicant will be working with the multi-disciplinary team and team manager to continue to develop a high quality, community-orientated service for older people. The successful post-holder will also be working alongside another clinical psychologist and assistant psychologist(s) based in the same team, plus additional locality based psychology colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The posts are professionally attached to the locality older adult psychology team and wider network, both of which offer a friendly and supportive space, with a strong commitment to providing quality services for older people in Lancashire and South Cumbria. The Trust is also committed to staff development, and have invested in on-going training and development opportunities including funding recent further therapy training and leadership courses. There are strong links with Universities and various opportunities for research involvement.
The substantive post is full-time, but we would consider part-time and job share arrangements. Informal enquiries and visits are strongly welcomed.

The £7k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role. The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 - 30th November 2024.The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
o £3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCFT)o £2,000 after 12 monthso £2,000 after 24 months

Essential
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Desirable
* Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
Knowledge
Essential
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
Desirable
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
