We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 7 Adult Nurse Practitioner to join our newly formed Deteriorating Adult Response Team – DART. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual looking for a new challenge. DART provides high quality, nursing care and support to patients across the organisation who are acutely unwell. The DART service will also lead in the implementation of Cause for Concern within the organisation after the Trust’s successful bid to take part in the national pilot for Martha’s Rule. We are looking for dynamic candidates with an appetite and enthusiasm for change, that will help shape how we care for our most vulnerable and clinically unwell patients within Gateshead. You’ll work closely alongside the 8a Nurse Clinical Lead and DART Medical Clinical Lead in helping the service develop and evolve, whilst providing senior nursing support to the Band 6 Development Nurse Practitioners within the team. In return, we will invest in you and help you to develop to meet your full potential. The service is a 24 hour, 7-day week service, therefore candidates should be aware they will be required to work shifts on a rota basis. DART is central to the efficient and effective running of the organisation, therefore leadership, communication, education and multi-disciplinary working skills are a must. Whilst the post holder will work as part of a team, as an experienced Nurse Practitioner, they will be a skilled independent practitioner, required to make autonomous, clinically led decisions. The post holder will have the ability to conduct a complete physical examination and formulate a clinical management plan. As a senior position, this role will require extensive experience and excellent clinical and managerial leadership. Advanced communication skills and the ability to act as an excellent role model are also fundamental aspects of this role. The post holder will be required to support the 8a ACP/Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the ongoing development of junior members of the team through clinical supervision and peer support. There are occasions whereby, the post holder may be required to act as Senior Nurse for the organisation, in the absence of the Clinical Site Lead.
